WHITEMARSH — State Rep. Mike Gerber (D-148th of Montgomery County) presented the board of supervisors with a giant $5,000 check Thursday for the procurement of a dog park within the township.

Slated for the area of Flourtown Road, where it borders the KYW radio tower on Erdenheim Farm, the dog park is still in its infant stages of development.

Township Manager Bruce Horrocks said Thursday’s grant was the first step in moving the process along.

“I can say, unequivocally, your program here really is the best run that I’ve seen in my district and certainly in areas outside my district,” said Gerber.

“Working to get money in Harrisburg for projects here, I do with great confidence, and I’m proud to do it. This is a small grant to help with the dog park that’s going in over by Erdenheim Farm, so hopefully this will help offset the costs the township otherwise would have incurred. I hope its something the residents enjoy for a long time.”
